Below are the recommended guidelines for iCatcher system specifications. As iCatcher is a modular system, the requirements will vary depending on the configuration used. Capture resolution, framerate, and amount of motion activity will all contribute to the minimum requirement for satisfactory results, and you are encouraged to download the free 21 day trial of the iCatcher software to determine what can be achieved on your system.

Additionally, a server requirements calculator is now available to help you to determine the system you need to provide CCTV using the iCatcher system.

Server Requirements Calculator

iCatcher Console

  • Please use the server requirements calculator for CPU & Memory requirements.
  • Operating System:
    • Windows XP (Service Pack 3 Recommended)
    • Windows Server 2003
    • Windows Home Server *
    • Windows Vista
    • Windows 7
    • Windows Server 2008
    • Windows Server 2008 R2
    • Windows 8

    * Windows Home Server only provides a visual interface via terminal services/remote desktop, and as such performance will be reduced in this environment.

  • Hard Disk:
Minimum of 10Gb disk space recommended. Disk space requirements will depend on motion frequency, number of feeds, feed resolution and history retention period. Please see the requirements calculator for an estimate of disk space requirements.

Hard disks formatted to FAT32 are not supported where single file storage is not used due to limitations on the number of files permitted per directory. Only use with NTFS drives (Windows Default) is supported.
  • Graphics card:
For best performance with multiple H.264 or megapixel cameras, a graphics card supporting DXVA 2.0 hardware video acceleration, such as the nVidia GeForce 9 or Quadro NVS295 or higher is required.

Notes regarding 64 bit Operating Systems:
iCatcher is currently available as a 32 bit application only. 64 bit versions of the Windows operating systems are capable of running 32 bit applications, and in this configuration iCatcher runs normally (subject to the system requirements above), however no advantage will be gained from running the iCatcher software on a 64 bit operating system.

Note that for local device (PCI, USB) usage, 64 bit drivers must be used. iCatcher is capable of making use of 64 bit capture drivers through the Windows 32 bit API layer. No configuration changes or additional software are required for this to work correctly.
