Euresys PicolO Pro 2 Four Port PCI Video Capture CardEuresys Capture Cards

Installation & Troubleshooting

The Euresys range of video capture cards provide a low cost high performance video capture system that allows you to easily adapt an existing analogue CCTV system into a digital system, or to build a new system utilising the latest in composite video CCTV cameras.

Installation of these cards is usually straightforward, and simply requires the appropriate drivers to be installed prior to the physical installation of the card itself. On occasion a few problems can arise from the driver installation that prevents the card from operating correctly. These situations are covered below.

Important: The software installation of the Euresys cards installs both the card driver and accompanying software components. If the automatic installation procedure of Windows is used to install the driver the software component will not be installed and the card will not operate correctly. If you are prompted by the New Hardware Wizard to install drivers, click on "Cancel" and continue the procedure described below.

Installation

MultiCam 6.0 Driver

Suitable for Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista

For i-Catcher Console 3.0 or later

MultiCam for Picolo 3.8.3 Driver

Suitable for Windows 2000, XP and 2003

For i-Catcher Sentry, Wildlife or Video Server

i-Catcher Console 3.0 and later should be used with the MultiCam 6.0 driver. This drivers supports Windows Vista and the full range of Euresys video capture cards.

When the installer runs, you should select a custom installation, and deselect all installation components except "MultiCam Drivers". The remaining options you can safely leave on their defaults.

The installer will install the driver components and the accompanying software components. Once the installation is complete you may be prompted to reboot. At this point you should physically install the Euresys card into the system in the normal way.

i-Catcher Sentry, Wildlife, and Video Server can only operate with the older driver which does not support some of the newer Picolo cards such as the Picolo Alert. The installation procedure is the same as above, but using the MultiCam for Picolo driver instead.

Troubleshooting

The following is a list of commonly encountered problems with the Euresys cards and their solutions.

Card is listed working in Device Manager, but is not visible in i-Catcher

This happens when only the driver has been installed and not the matching software component. If the driver was installed automatically by Windows, the card will not work correctly until the installation has been run as above. If you are using i-Catcher Video Server you may have installed the wrong driver. i-Catcher Video Server can only operate with the older "MultiCam for Picolo" driver.

Card works in i-Catcher, but is not visible in any other capture application

This is normal when the MultiCam driver is installed. i-Catcher makes use of the driver direct rather than using a Windows capture driver. Other applications will try to use a Windows capture interface which the Multicam driver does not provide.

The device list/feed wizard takes a long time to appear after the driver is installed
i-Catcher crashes on startup or configuring a feed/video device

Some versions of the Multicam driver attempt to install a DirectShow Windows Capture driver (even if the option is deselected in the setup process) which does not work correctly and slows the system down while discovering available local devices. i-Catcher's video capture components attempt to filter out these broken drivers eliminating any capture problems, but it can still cause the system to be slow during this process. You can improve this by executing the following via Start/Run... :

regsvr32 /u C:\Program Files\Euresys\MultiCam\DirectShow\ESFilter.dll
regsvr32 /u C:\Program Files\Euresys\MultiCam\DirectShow\ESFEnum.dll
