Webcam Tutorial
-
Make
sure i-Catcher is in Webcam Mode (Click on "Settings"
then make sure that "Web camera" is selected).
- In the "Webcam Capture file" box, enter a
path to the local copy of the webcam (e.g. "c:\my
documents\webcam.jpg"). If you have direct access to the
web server, you can enter a share name here (e.g. "\\webserver\website\webcam.jpg").
- If you don't want the image to be uploaded to a separate web
server, Go to step 12.
- If you need to manually dial up to the internet, go back to
the main window, then click on "Connection",
make sure "Use dialup" is selected then select
your dial up connection.
- Go back to the main window, then Click on "Alerts"
then "FTP...".
- Make sure that the "Enable FTP upload" is
ticked, and enter the Server name and your user details (Your
ISP would most likely have given you these.)
- If you are behind a proxy server, make sure "Use proxy"
is ticked, and enter its details in the boxes. (i-Catcher only
supports FTP proxies, not HTTP or SOCKS Proxies.)
- If you are behind a firewall, make sure "Passive
mode" is ticked. (You may need this for some Proxy servers
as well.)
- Enter a directory and filename in the boxes. (The directory is
relative to the home directory on the server unless you prefix
it with a "/".)
- Select the interval you want i-Catcher to do an upload. It can
range from 1 second up to 6 million years (This interval is the
time between finishing an upload and doing the next one.)
- To test the settings, click "Test now", and
it will dial up if necessary. If the test fails, you will find
the error message in the Log (See logging from the main window).
- Go back to the main menu, and click "Start
Monitoring". You should now have a working web camera.
