Overlays
i-Catcher has the ability to Overlay certain text and graphics on to the
captured images. This is very useful for date and time stamping any recorded
events. In both the unregistered version of i-Catcher and the i-Catcher
trial this feature is disabled, and is enabled only in the purchased
product.
- To enable text overlays please click the "Enable text
overlay" box.
- The text you want to be displayed can be entered in the large text
box. This text can contain several macros for details like the date and
time.
-
- [date] - The current date (e.g. "06/02/2002")
- [time] - The current time (e.g. "14:43:11")
- [now] - The current date and time (e.g. "06/02/2002
14:43:11")
- [timestamp] - The date and time in number form (e.g.
"20020206144311")
- [name] - If i-catcher is connected to a console, this is the feeds name, otherwise it is the computers name (e.g.
"Courtyard")
- [profile] - The name of the active profile, which is useful if i-Catcher
is connected to the console (e.g. "Nighttime")
- The position of the overlay text can be changed by selecting a
position in the "Text position" box. The foreground color of
the text can also be changed by clicking in the colour box. The
background colour can also be set if required.
- The remaining options for overlays give you the ability to draw
crosshairs at the centre of the detected movement, or highlight any
detected movement. These options are selectable in a similar manner to
the other overlay features, clicking in the colour box will allow you
select the desired colour.

Masks
There is a feature to allow you to set up masks to hide areas of spurious
movement (such as swaying trees). This is activated by pressing the masks
button in the bottom right hand corner of the overlays window.
There are 4 masks available, and each can be positioned and coloured
individually.
The X, Y, W, and H slider correspond to Horizontal, Vertical, Width,
Height respectively. The coloured box allows you to change the colour of
each mask. The "Build" button allows you to select an area on the
motion window with the mouse that you want to mask.
The "Mask Border" will draw a border around the entire masked
area.
