i-Catcher Console - PC CCTV - Bird Table 1 Details

The images are captured using a Sony camcorder. The Sony cameras do not power off after a period of time when running with no tape installed. Using a commercial style camcorder means that you can benefit from the cost reduction that the mass market brings. This particular camera has a 26 times optical zoom and night vision, so if you have a location where you can get a good shot through a window, then this is definitely your preferred capture device.

The signal from the camcorder is fed into our i-Catcher Console system with an Osprey 100 card, where a local Sentry "Node" takes care of motion detection.

All the birds come to feed here on a regular basis, and Cyril (the squirrel) has both breakfast and tea on a daily basis. We fill the pots up with a mixture of seeds and crushed peanuts, so far our most popular feed.

As well as the birds and Cyril, we also get regular visits from some of our smaller mammalian cousins. In particular a field mouse (Fiona) regularly visits.
